MATHCOUNTS

MATHCOUNTS is a national math enrichment, coaching and competition program that promotes middle school mathematics achievement. MATHCOUNTS challenges students' math skills, develops their self-confidence, motivates and rewards them for their achievements. Competitions are held locally, plus on the state and national levels. In recent surveys, 80% of state competition alumni reported scoring 1400 or higher on their SATs! Feel free to go to mathcounts.org at your convenience for more information on the national program.

The next MATHCOUNTS event will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2007 (snow date: February 10), at Pace-Pleasantville. Volunteers are needed to serve as proctors and scorers for the Chapter competition, and Sponsors are welcome to help offset the costs of trophies and certificates for the worthy student participants. Contact local MATHCOUNTS chairperson, Manny Psaltakis, at MPsaltakis@HazenAndSawyer.com, for further information. Also, visit our website at math2006.notlong.com for results of the 2006 Chapter competition.
