Future Cities
The mission of the National Engineer’s Week Future
City Competition is to provide a fun and exciting educational engineering
program for seventh-and eight-grade students that combines a stimulating
engineering challenge with a “hands-on” application to present their vision of
a city of the future. The Future Cities
Competition is a competition of teams from junior high schools in the New York
City metropolitan region. Each team
must design, construct and present their vision of a “City of the Future” as
they compete with their peers for a chance to advance to the State and National
competitions
Members of NYSPE are encouraged to become involved by
being a mentor to a team of middle school students. Mentors assist their teams be sharing their expertise with the
next generation of engineers, planners, and constructors as they work towards
the fun goal of completing their computer models, physical models and oral
presentations.
